You could call it a tote but should you?.

If It’s what’s on the inside that matters most then we have you covered. Most traditional totes are made with 8 to 12 OZ cotton – our totes are anything but “traditional”. At the design table we decided to do things a bit differently. The outside layer of the Hurston and Ellington is 16 OZ Canvas / Cotton and sturdy enough to handle whatever the outside world might throw at it. We didn’t stop there. In addition, we added a 6 OZ Canvas/ Cotton inner layer to deal with anything you might decide to put in it, double-wall construction, more than double the normal strength –  Beauty and the Beast all in one.

A bag is only as good as it's stitching.

No matter what material you construct your bag with, it matters little unless the stitching is done right. That’s why we use Superior thread, in a cross weave with a double line. We know the Canvas / Cotton is tough but we also knew that the way the bag was held together was worthy of the material.

The right graphic - the right process.

There are a number of ways that you can apply a graphic to fabric but there is only one “best” way. Guess which one we went with. There is no vinyl on this bag and there is no ” direct to garment” printing either. The only true option for us was Silk Screening because we wanted colors that were going to look sharp for years and endure any element you might subject our bag to.

Two colors both white.

While our shirt only comes in Midnight Black, the Hurston and Ellington come in two colors and both of them are white. In the image, we’ve added a gray to give perspective. The whites are Brilliant White and Natural White. Let your mood decide or call us. There’s nothing else we’d rather do than talk about the difference between the two whites. You should have heard the discussion around the design table.
